Birmingham Monitoring Halifax Town Defender

Birmingham City could well be set to bring in Marc Roberts on a free transfer after his deal expired at FC Halifax Town. The Chester Chronicle are reporting that the defender is set for the Football League as he tries to better his career.

The 24 year old is well thought off at his current club and it has been revealed that Birmingham City attempted to buy him in January.

The centreback is a tactical weapon as it is being reported he has a ‘missile-like long throw’ which is just the kind of thing Rowett was talking about when discussing how he would like to add to the squad.

The defender is a prominent player in the air and an organised leader vocally, it would appear he would be a good addition to partner Morrison at the back with the additional height, should be be able to make the step up.

Birmingham are most likely on the look out for another defender, as Rob Kiernan has gone back to his parent club, Paul Robinson looks all but finished as a player and the team need a little more legs in there for a season as long as the Championships.

This deal would also be a cheap one as he is coming from lower league, meaning his wage demands should be lower. Plus he is out of contract so there is no fee for him.

From the Birmingham side of things we are still hearing very little so it is hard to tell just how active Birmingham really are, although Rowett has revealed they’re already talking to players – we just don’t know which ones for sure.
