Birmingham Ladies have always been a club to look at their youth and scouting system of young players, rather than buy big signings from other Super League clubs.

This philosophy has been proven today when Chloe Peplow put pen to paper on her first professional contract. This will keep her at the club for the next two years in which she will be brought gradually into the first team.

Chloe did make her début at just sixteen years old, but due to a few minor injuries, she wasn’t able to make a major breakthrough at a young age. Her maturity through this stint on the sidelines has been admirable for such a young player, it must be said.

She has also has many plaudits from inside the Blues’ camp such as the likes of the manager, David Parker. This is obviously due to her efforts on the pitch but he also says how well she has handled the constant interest in her by other Super League clubs. She was a very popular and scouted player last season and there were vast amounts of interest in her as we enter the closed season.

But she coped really well with the pressure of all of the speculation, and this is the kind of person she is. She is calm and always looks to play the easy ball. Wise beyond her years would be a good description. The fact that she has committed her future to Birmingham is a massive repayment for their support of young players and both parties will greatly benefit.

As a local girl, she knows what it takes to be a bluenose and it won’t be the last that you hear of Chloe Peplow.
