Birmingham Have Been Given ‘Significant’ Fee For 32-Year Old Midfielder

|

We will receive a “significant” loan fee for Cheikh N’Doye from Angers according to the Birmingham Mail reporter Shane Ireland.

With the Senegalese international’s contract due to expire at the end of the season, it is effectively a permanent signing anyway.

N’Doye was signed on a free transfer from Angers last summer on a two-year deal so we are making a profit on the player returning to France.

However, it’s unlikely to loosen the restrictions placed on us by the EFL. The league have permitted us five loan/free signings before August 31st, and with Omar Bogle, Conor Mahoney, Gary Gardner and Lee Camp having already signed, it means Garry Monk can recruit just one more.

N’Doye’s departure will help us with FFP, and hopefully, it will allow us some flexibility in the January transfer window, but that’s for a future discussion. As it stands, we have lost an option in the first team squad, with Maikel Kieftenbeld and the Gardner brothers having to pick up the slack until David Davis returns from injury.

Do you think it was the right decision to loan out N’Doye? Let me know in the poll:
