Gary Rowett has hinted that what success means for his team will be judged by other people, rather than himself. The Blues manager was talking about what his team might be able to do this season and refused to set them a target.

The Blues boss told bcfc.com that his team aren’t far away from promotion finding form. Rowett did not challenge his team to achieve automatic promotion but again he wouldn’t rule it out either.

‘if we can maintain this sort of form and we can continue to improve and maybe along the way bring one or two players in that can improve us further then I think we’ve got a chance.”

Rowett is not one for dampening the mood. Should his players begin to believe the unthinkable then I do think he will let that grow and produce more confidence. Of course that brings with it a new set of problems, but nevertheless isn’t a reason in itself to rule such an achievement.

What ever happens this season, it is by far too soon to tell. This league is perhaps the most difficult to predict long term, those that start well do not always end well. It will take a lot of continuity over the course of the season to bring with it expected success.

“I think we can achieve something but it’s up to everyone else to decide what success is.”

Birmingham take on QPR in their next outing, perhaps another chance to secure a huge result.
