David Cotterill has joined Birmingham City on a two year deal, becoming Birmingham`s eight signing of the summer.

The former Doncaster Rovers winger is understood to want to avoid playing in League One, similarly to fellow new Blues signing Duffy. Birmingham have been desperate to add numbers to the ranks after the news Chris Burke is set to leave the club; the team also relied heavily on loan players in midfield last season.

Cotterill is to join Birmingham on July 1, the earliest his pre-contract agreement can permit. The player can play either right or left wing and has represented his country, Wales, on 20 occasions.

The former £2 million pound Wigan man with be hoping he can continue his first team football at Birmingham after finally settling at Doncaster following several less-than successful stints with Swansea and Wigan.

Has Cotterill got what it takes to help this Birmingham team?
