Birmingham facing two important decisions & we can’t repeat the mistakes of the past

Former West Bromwich Albion and Celtic player Youssouf Mulumbu is currently on trial at Birmingham City and for me, he’s a decent shout.

This central midfielder was a very popular player with the Baggies and achieved many star performances. Should Clotet decide to take him on then this could be an inspired addition. Mulumbu and Kieftenbeld are solid performers and with Gardner and Sunjic as the quartet then we look strong. Just what this Championship is all about.

Away from the possible Molumbu signing, attention has been focused on the fine form of Steve Seddon currently on loan at Portsmouth.

Supporters of this club like Seddon and from what we hear they would like his loan made permanent. Make no mistake, Portsmouth is a tough club and very similar to Blues – a hard working outfit and only a 100% effort endears the players to the fans.

League One is hard and for Seddon to get such reviews is great news for us and great for Portsmouth’s quest for promotion. However, Seddon obviously needs a permanent home after three loan spells. The question is whether we keep him or let him go? My own opinion is that he should be part of our new campaign come August, particularly with a possible Premier move for Kristian Pedersen.

One of our commenters, Tracey Tyler, is a firm fan of Seddon and we can understand why, but at this moment it is a difficult call as surely Kenny Jackett at Portsmouth would make him his number one left back whereas at Blues he may struggle for game time.

Another issue centres around whether Portsmouth gain Championship promotion. A nice position I feel for Blues who really did their homework when releasing Seddon to a good club and a good manager. For all parties concerned these decisions are crucial for player and Club, and one now gets the feeling that things are on the up at long last for Blues and confidence is slowly beginning to be felt which should see an end to recent seasons of atrocious decisions.
