Birmingham facing two important decisions & we can’t repeat the mistakes of the past

|

Former West Bromwich Albion and Celtic player Youssouf Mulumbu is currently on trial at Birmingham City and for me, he’s a decent shout.

This central midfielder was a very popular player with the Baggies and achieved many star performances. Should Clotet decide to take him on then this could be an inspired addition. Mulumbu and Kieftenbeld are solid performers and with Gardner and Sunjic as the quartet then we look strong. Just what this Championship is all about.

Away from the possible Molumbu signing, attention has been focused on the fine form of Steve Seddon currently on loan at Portsmouth.

Supporters of this club like Seddon and from what we hear they would like his loan made permanent. Make no mistake, Portsmouth is a tough club and very similar to Blues – a hard working outfit and only a 100% effort endears the players to the fans.

League One is hard and for Seddon to get such reviews is great news for us and great for Portsmouth’s quest for promotion. However, Seddon obviously needs a permanent home after three loan spells. The question is whether we keep him or let him go? My own opinion is that he should be part of our new campaign come August, particularly with a possible Premier move for Kristian Pedersen.

One of our commenters, Tracey Tyler, is a firm fan of Seddon and we can understand why, but at this moment it is a difficult call as surely Kenny Jackett at Portsmouth would make him his number one left back whereas at Blues he may struggle for game time.

Another issue centres around whether Portsmouth gain Championship promotion. A nice position I feel for Blues who really did their homework when releasing Seddon to a good club and a good manager. For all parties concerned these decisions are crucial for player and Club, and one now gets the feeling that things are on the up at long last for Blues and confidence is slowly beginning to be felt which should see an end to recent seasons of atrocious decisions.

Something happened to Seddon just when he was breaking through. He seemed to fall back badly and never regained his steely side to his game. At first his tough tackling and wing play was a joy to watch. Perhaps all that is back and the St.Andrews faithful want to see it again.

Nothing happened to Seddon. We tried to play wingbacks and failed miserably as we lacked the firepower and the steely resolve in midfield. We abandoned the 3 at the back for a more solid back 4. Pederson has had an outstanding season meaning it has been hard for the likes of Seddon and Harding to break into the back 4. If Pederson leaves then Seddon will be our first choice LB though he lacks the physical attributes of Pederson he is a good player. Peds will be difficult to dislodge though if he stays. I think Seddon would do a good job further forward as a winger as he has a very good shot on him and has excellent crossing ability.

    Youssouf Mulumbu lol
I would rather we gave our own young kids a chance.

    Jack Cancannon, Ryan Shrek’ Boyd-Munnce,

Seddon should be given a chance peds has to have a Barack and he don’t really have any cover. I don’t think kata will ever be strong enough for this league. Not as a left back anyway.

Next season a bit of squad rotation. Young players coming off the bench. After all they will never be good enough without experience.
Game time in a mans game. KRO

Agree with Ijaz, Seddon was the sacrificial lamb for the failed 3 at the back system, disagree with him however because I do think Pedersen always has a mistake in him and does get caught out of position quite a lot during a game. I personally like the 3 at the back system and I am convinced that is what the Board and Clotet wanted to play but you do really need a top class ball playing back three which we did not have apart from Clarke Salter ( Roberts and Dean far too clumsy) so that is why it was ditched so abruptly.

We have needed cover and competition at left back since paul Robinson quit pedensen is automatic and that’s not good for him or the club. Get sedden back sigh salter if we can, and sign another striker. That’s should be all we need if we keep bellingham ,get rid of keitel ground , and montero I dont think we need Mumbai I thing we are strong in midfield.
