Birmingham Facing Seven Other Teams In Battle For League One Ace

|

Peterborough Director of Football’s Barry Fry has revealed there are eight different clubs pursuing Jack Marriott this summer.

Reports have linked us with a move for the 23-year-old but there looks to be a whole host of clubs that are pursuing the striker.

Fry told Peterborough Today:

Eight clubs are chasing Jack, but I still haven’t received a bid worthy of taking to the board of directors. It’s not a problem. We are prepared to keep Jack if we don’t get a good enough offer. We are prepared to sell him, but not because we have to for financial reasons.”

The Birmingham Mail reports that the Posh are looking for £6m for the forward. Considering the forward has only had one decent goalscoring season in League One, that is a pretty steep figure.

We are certainly on a lookout for a new striker if our interest in Hull City’s Abel Hernandez is anything to go by. With the joint worst record in the Championship for goals scored last season, it is something that does need to be addressed.

However, competition is fierce for players of Marriott’s level, and Peterborough know that with so many players interested in him, they can hold out for a significant transfer fee.
