Birmingham Defeat the Final Straw

Reading have sacked their manager after a 6-1 defeat at Birmingham.

The game went from back to worse for the visitors as Blues put 6 past them with relative ease. A first half hatrick saw Demarai Gray walk all over Reading at the back.

It may seem a little harsh on Adkins after his team were more than in the game and on another day may have got the goal first.

Instead now he finds himself unemployed and on the back of a whopping 6-1 loss. Ironically Birmingham looked the more shaky of the two teams.

Managers being sacked is an all too common occurrence in football and it is not going to change any time soon. But sacking managers can prove fatal.

The more consistent clubs do tend to do best over the years. Wolves went into free fall when they started sacking managers left right and centre. And I’m aware there are idiots calling for the managers head again.

With that said, sacking Lee Clark has revitalised our club and may do the same for Reading now they have taken the plunge. I’m not one for changing managers without very good reason. And I accept I’m not well read on all things Reading to know what was going so badly wrong there.

Birmingham meanwhile gear up for another Championship game against Huddersfield on Saturday. Maybe another 6-1 just for good measure.
