Birmingham Could Be Releasing Pannu

Peter Pannu’s reign at Birmingham City Football Club is set to come to an end after his contract may not renewed to remain as acting chairman of the club.

Pannu was placed in charge of the club following Carson Yeung’s arrest in 2011. At that time his wages were increased to a whopping £1 million a year to represent the role he was doing for the club.

The man himself revealed that he had a contract until September 2014 earlier in the year and was quoted as saying he would not take a reduction in wages to continue in the role.

He said if he is not wanted, he will leave. If they (the directors of BIHL) wanted him to continue he would, for his fee. This was all in a telephone interview with Tom Ross and Pannu may be said to have became quite annoyed when pressed about his wages.

It is well apparent that Birmingham are now getting their finances in order and reducing the wage bill even further could be apart of that plan.

Peter Pannu is still a director of Birmingham International Holdings Limited. That may not be set to change, however he may choose to resign from that post as well if he is not going to receive any money for the post.

It is always very difficult for us to find out just exactly what is going on in Hong Kong.

Birmingham have already began life without Pannu, Panos Pavliakis seems to be running things at St Andrews. He has also taken over the media side of things with his tweets to fans, whilst Pannu has remained largely very quiet.

All the signs point to a Pannu departure, at least from St Andrews.
