On 29th July 2014, Hull City battled off competition from clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers to secure the signature of hot-prospect Harry Maguire from Sheffield United. The 21 year old who has made one appearance for England under 21`s however has failed to make a single appearance for his new side with former Blues captain Curtis Davies being a main stay in the side alongside new signing Michael Dawson and it is believed that Hull City are looking to loan out Maguire with Birmingham City one of the teams rumoured to be interested.

Maguire wants to be playing games regularly and with Steve Bruce as manager the link between his player and the side he used to manage is obvious and nothing of yet is clear as reports from Hull only leaked yesterday. Birmingham City currently have Grant Hall, David Edgar and Paul Robinson as the only out and out centre halves after new signing Gavin Gunning was ruled out for the season in August through injury and it may be that Lee Clark is looking to bolster his defensive options before the loan window shuts on the 28th November.

The boys from St. Andrews have kept only one clean sheet all season and despite their only big loss of the season being a 4-0 defeat away at Wigan Athletic in August, they are shipping too many goals through sloppy mistakes and having Maguire come into the team and solidify a partnership with Edgar or Hall at the back would only be a positive if these reports were true.

The other team interested in Yorkshire born Maguire are Wigan Athletic who sit a place below Blues in the league and it will be a tough decision on who to loan him too, if Hull City do decide to loan out their player. When Maguire was signed for Hull City it was believed that he was always going to be a player for the future and a good run off games to build up his experience and confidence in the Championship would be ideal for the former Sheffield United captain.

After manager Lee Clark found out that he would be losing United States International Jonathan Spector for up to three months with a thigh strain it looks to be a sensible appointment for Clark to dip into the loan market and I`m sure Blues fans would be delighted if reports were correct and Birmingham were interested in the player.
