Birmingham Confirm Summer Departures Of Two Midfielders

|

The club confirmed on Friday that both Jason Lowe and Andrew Shinnie will be leaving at the end of June.

The midfielders have been deemed surplus to requirements as Garry Monk’s begins to reshape the squad ahead of next season.

Lowe was signed by Harry Redknapp on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers but hasn’t played a first-team game since a brief cameo appearance in the 3-1 defeat to Bristol City in early April.

The 26-year-old only signed a one-year contract last summer, and the Blues have opted against extending his deal.

Shinnie meanwhile has spent the season on loan at Luton Town, where he helped the League Two side to promotion. His efforts were, however, not enough to earn him a new contract at St Andrews, and he will depart after having made 73 appearances during a five-year stay.

The Scottish international signed from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013 before having loan spells at Rotherham, Hibernian and the Hatters.
