The club confirmed on Friday that both Jason Lowe and Andrew Shinnie will be leaving at the end of June.

The midfielders have been deemed surplus to requirements as Garry Monk’s begins to reshape the squad ahead of next season.

Lowe was signed by Harry Redknapp on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers but hasn’t played a first-team game since a brief cameo appearance in the 3-1 defeat to Bristol City in early April.

The 26-year-old only signed a one-year contract last summer, and the Blues have opted against extending his deal.

Shinnie meanwhile has spent the season on loan at Luton Town, where he helped the League Two side to promotion. His efforts were, however, not enough to earn him a new contract at St Andrews, and he will depart after having made 73 appearances during a five-year stay.

The Scottish international signed from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013 before having loan spells at Rotherham, Hibernian and the Hatters.

  • With Grounds added to the outgoings it appears swift action is being done. No doubt the very teetering on almost oblivion to league one -two seasons on the trot has certainly been heeded. We cannot exercise a total clearout but the basics are no doubt being done. Warnock did it at Cardiff with no real hope of a serious challenge and look what happened.Same applied to Brentford who were favourites to drop etc. Clearout is overused a lot ,but in our case it is not, with players signing for the wrong reasons. They have their careers and families to consider and I get that but silly money has turned them.Good example is Davis signed for club maximum of then £5K per week.No doubt this has probably increased significantly but his desire and consistency has never faltered unlike the latest crop who basically cannot put a string of decent performances together.Monk knows it and the supporters see it totally.

  • Can we please get rid of Roberts, Gardner and N’doye? The latter after he plays in the WC – maximum moolah. KRO
