According to Sky Sports, Blues are lining up Gianfranco Zola to replace Gary Rowett. This is the most underwhelming piece of news I have heard today.

The Italian was undoubtedly a top class player many years ago but his management CV doesn`t stand up under scrutiny. Appointing Zola would in no way be a step forward.

Having managed West Ham United, Watford, Cagliari and Al-Arabi, the 50 year-old hasn`t managed more than 80 games in the dugout at any of his clubs. A move to Hull City was on the cards in the summer but that didn`t materialise for various reasons.

Whoever the manager is, be it Zola or someone else, I want Birmingham City to be successful. But the question has to be asked of who we can attract?

It Trillion Trophy Asia think that a top manager will want to come to St. Andrews on the promise of a £5m transfer kitty, they are totally deluded.
