Birmingham City will back Gianfranco Zola to lead the club into next season, a source close to the club has claimed.
The Italian, who has won only two of his 22 games in charge since taking over in December, is likely to be given the finances and the backing to rebuild the squad in the summer – assuming they remain a Championship club.

The club’s owners, Trillion Trophy Asia, still retain unwavering faith in Zola and believe he is the right man for the job. But a good start to next season is vital for Zola’s tenure.

It’s likely that Zola will be given the full support of the board as he looks to continue with his development of the playing philosophy.

When asked, the source didn’t confirm whether relegation this season would mean Zola falling on his sword but did confirm that the club ‘have every intention’ of sticking with the 50 year-old for ‘the foreseeable future’.

  • Will he want to manage us in league 1 or does he consider himself too good to manage at that level?

  • If Zola is not gone at the end of this season or before that I will not be renewing my season ticket for the first time in 34 years. I am not going to be wasting more money to watch us go down the leagues it is abysmal self destruction keeping this clown at the club. We would not get out of league 1 with Zola in charge in fact we would probably get relegated to league 2 he has no clue what he is doing he has no workable tactical approach he as no man management skills whatsoever. He is a weak and feeble excuse for a man. If he was a horse you would shoot him for is own good. #ZOLA OUT
