According to a report by Colin Tattum in the Birmingham Mail, Blues will renew their interest in Spurs defender Stephen Kelly. The 22-year-old right back, who has said he wants to play regular football and will need to move on from White Hart Lane, is seen as an ideal replacement for Mario Melchiot. Kelly said: ‘For me, I need first-team football and need to play regularly whether that is at Tottenham or maybe somewhere else.’

Reports that Spurs midfielder Dean Marney is also a target are apparently wide of the mark though.

David Gold has said they don’t need to sell their key players: ‘Imagine the impact the likes of Emile Heskey, Jermaine Pennant, Mikael Forssell and a fit David Dunn would have as an attacking force for us next season? We have let players go and four or five will be coming in but do not have to sell people like Emile and Jermaine. Obviously, they would prefer to stay in the Premiership. That’s where we would prefer to be.’ For more on this Click Here
