Birmingham City have confirmed via the official club website that the club have signed Arsenal youngster Jon Toral.

The 20 year old, who played 36 times for league rivals Brentford last year, joins on a season long loan deal. During his time with the Bee’s, Toral scored six times from a midfield role and manager Gary Rowett will be hoping he can do the same for the Blues.

In 2010, Toral caught the eye of Arsenal while playing in the Manchester United Premier Cup, a cup which he went on to win. The Spanish youngster, formerly of Barcelona’s academy, moved to London along with current first choice Gunners right back Hector Bellerin.

The loan move now means that Blues now have five midfielders who will be competing for two holding roles in the side. Youngster Reece Brown will be hoping to make his mark on the team but he faces competition from Stephen Gleeson, David Davis, Maikel Kieftenbeld and now Toral.

Blues fans will be hoping that Toral is as successful as previous Arsenal loanee’s Fabrice Muamba, Seb Larsson and Nicklas Bendtner. All three enjoyed fruitful loan spells with the Blues, with Muamba and Larsson eventually going on to sign permanently for the club.

Blues fans, what do you make of this signing? Do you think it is a good one? Are you happy that there is yet another new face through the door? How many more signings do you think we will see? Let us know in the comment section down below!
