Birmingham City are reportedly leading the chase for Danish striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen.

Several outlets this morning are reporting that the Blues have moved ahead of Russian club FC Ufa in the race to sign the 6ft 3′ forward.

The news comes just a day after manager Gary Rowett once again reiterated his desire to add another striker to his ranks.

It is understood that the move would be a permanent one instead of a loan deal, with the fee believed to be around £400,000.

The rumour was confirmed on social media site Twitter by a highly thought of sports journalist in Denmark, Michael Qureshi.

Should the deal actually happen, Brock-Madsen would become only the fifth player Blues have paid money for in the past three years, following in the footsteps of Paul Caddis, David Davis, Denny Johnstone and Maikel Kieftenbeld.

The 22 year old striker currently plays for Randers FC where he has scored 16 goals in 90 appearances.
