Birmingham City reject derisory offer for Jonathan Grounds

|

Birmingham City have today rejected an offer that has been described as derisory for experienced left-back Jonathan Grounds, Vital Birmingham understands.

The defender, who made 30 appearances for the Blues last season under three separate managers, was placed on the transfer list by Garry Monk, along with three other high earners, David Stockdale, Tomasz Kuszczak and Craig Gardner, but none of them are yet to find another club.

We understand that the club have knocked a ‘nothing’ bid back from an unnamed club but they are open to further offers from that club and from any others who are interested in buying the 30-year-old former Middlesbrough trainee.

Since joining the club in July 2014, Grounds has gone on to play under eight separate interim and full time managers at Blues, making a total of 170 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals in the process.

The news of the rejected offer comes just a week or so after it was revealed that the club are close to signing Union Berlin left-back Kristian Pedersen.

Blues fans, would you be disappointed to see Jonathan Grounds leave or do you think it’s the right time for him to move on? Let us know in the comment section down below!
