Birmingham Among Four Clubs Linked With Exciting Boro Starlet

|

We are one of four teams interested in Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier, according to TEAMtalk.

The website reports that the 19-year-old will be allowed to leave on loan before the window shuts on Friday, although it seems we are not the team who are the likeliest to sign him.

League One side Portsmouth are reportedly leading the chase, with us, Bolton and Ipswich Town all said to have shown interest as well.

Garry Monk gave Tavernier his senior debut when he was Boro manager at the beginning of last season, but I’m not so sure that he will be a top priority for us.

Although he can play in central midfield, he has been exclusively used as a left winger by the Teessiders. With Jacques Maghoma, Viv Solomon-Otabor and even Connor Mahoney capable of playing left wing, it would seem unlikely that we would use our last signing of the summer on the teenager, despite his undoubted talent.
