Birmingham City have agreed a deal to sign Michael Morrison on a three year deal when his loan expires.

The 26 year old has been an ever present under Gary Rowett and was brought in before his very first game in charge.

He took to the job like a duck to water. Putting in a solid performance at local rivals Wolves. It would see Birmingham totally transform into a solid defensive outlet.

Rowett has spoken at length about his desire to strengthen the central defender position permanently and his preferred option was of course Morrison.

The deal will see him remain at Birmingham for three and a half more years.

Morrison was a shock exclusion from Charlton’s team after making a good impact for them since joining. He recently singed a new deal with the club only to be frozen out.

The defence would have been a big worry for Birmingham if they had to go back to what they once were. Not that something like that would be likely in Rowett’s system.

With that said, it helps to have a solution sorted before the current loan deal expires. It is again an efficient bit of business by the club and well done to them, its a cracking bit of business.

To see that Birmingham can operate in the transfer market sees the club come a very long way from just this time last year.
