It looks like we’re starting to get to that kind of spirit once again.
Having gone through a similar stage of ‘pining’ over a former manager when Garry Monk was appointed boss at Sheffield Wednesday, it looks as if Blues fans are starting to feel the same way about another former boss. This time it’s Millwall manager Gary Rowett.
@BluesCallum posted a message on Twitter last night during the Lions’ game with Leeds United as they were 2-0 up, and he pointed out that sacking him was ‘the biggest mistake’ that Birmingham City made in the past ten years, and it was a comment that certainly got a lot of fans talking.
And even though he hasn’t exactly gone on to achieve much since he left St Andrew’s, there were lots of fans who agreed with the comment, with a couple of them using it as a way of comparing the state of the club now to where they could possibly have been under his stewardship if he’d have stayed on.
Effective football where everyone put the effort in and a great relationship with the fans. I’d settle for that over what we have now. Saturday summed up everything we currently are.

Big time mate. This man would have got us into Premier league by now.

Our Gary knew from his time as a player the best way to play a canny game on a shoe string budget. He got results👍🏐🌍✌

He was a very good manager. And now the fans dislike him because they think he was disloyal. TTA have an ability to make every manager look like the bad guy.

And they brought in a bloke who’d been sacked by his previous club – in Qatar. 🤦🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/XonkKpoJEF

I was all for him until he wanted to speak to Fulham and refused to sign new contract. They should've waited till end of season but made it worse by sacking him there and then

Bring him back

Who was the better manager for the Blues?
Gary Rowett
Garry Monk
I wonder how Pep Clotet must feel about all this sort of talk, with fans pining for the old regimes back.
