Following Birmingham City’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Scottish Cup champions Hibernian on Sunday afternoon, manager Gary Rowett insisted that bids had been made for players and that the club were waiting to hear back of certain targets.

Well, it is all well and good having bids on the table for players, mainly strikers in our case, but all us fans want to know is, when will we sign our third player of the summer transfer window?

As much as I would love to be able to give you the answer to that questions guys, unfortunately I can’t, but with bids being on the table for at least two strikers, I know that something will definitely happen before the start of the season.

Even Rowett himself has admitted that Blues will have a new striker through the door before the Cardiff City game on the 6th of August at St.Andrews and whoever that player is, everyone will be hoping that they hit the ground running because if they don’t we might have another James Vaughan or Nicolai Brock-Madsen on our hands and that would be a terrible thing.

With Blues having had a bid rejected for Sheffield United star Che Adams last week, I believe he is a player who will be talked about quite a lot over the next two weeks and in my opinion, he would be the perfect signing for us, especially if we can get him for close to what we paid for Diego Fabbrini in January.

Personally, I would really like to see a new striker brought in before the last preseason game against Kidderminster Harriers on the 2nd of August, just so they can be eased into the squad, and if that player is Adams, then great, but if not, there are sure to be some top names towards the bigger targets in Rowett’s pond.

Although names have been banded around all through the transfer window, Adams is the one that has really stuck out and that is because we have actually made a bid for him, but after speaking to a source close to the club, there are thoughts that Rowett’s top target could be one that isn’t actually in the public domain as of yet.

Whether the name will actually get out, I am not so sure, but it is always good to know that things are going on behind closed doors and that everything is falling into place with one or two deals.

Blues fans, when do you think our next summer signing will be announced? Let us know in the comment section down below!
