Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has confirmed that Blues have put in a new, improved offer for Wigan winger Charles N’Zogbia.

McLeish would not say just how much the new offer was or the player but they have had a bid of £8 million turned down for the Frenchman.

‘We have made another bid for Charles and we wait to see if it’s successful or not,’ said McLeish.

‘We’re awaiting Wigan’s response. At the same time we’re in the hands of the gods in terms of the other offers.’

Also said to be monitoring the situation is ex-Blues boss Steve Bruce who wouldn`t mind the player at Sunderland.
