‘Best News Ever,’ ‘Good Business’ – Fans React To Birmingham Star’s New Deal

The club announced yesterday that David Davis has agreed a one-year extension to his contract at St Andrews.

The 27-year-old’s original deal was set to end in 2020, but it has now been confirmed that the midfielder will be staying with us until the summer of 2021.

Fans on Twitter were delighted that Digga will be staying a bit longer:

Verdict:

The decision to give our no.26 a new contract indicates he is very much part of Garry Monk’s long-term plans. For the manager’s first two matches in charge, the midfielder was injured, but following his return, he was ever-present in the starting eleven.

Davis played the full 90 minutes in the last eight league games of the season,  with the team picking up fours wins, one draw, three defeats and 13 points in the process.

An archetypal midfield enforcer, he played a crucial role in Monk’s 4-4-2 formation, and will likely be integral once again next campaign.
