Blues boss Alex McLeish wants striker Marcus Bent to carry on improving after he hit his first goal for Birmingham City against Swansea on Friday night.

Bent was on the field due to Garry O`Connor being injured and he proved that he can score when the pressure is on and that`s just what the boss wants to see.

“I was pleased with Marcus, getting his first goal,” McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

“He lost his marker to head us level at a time when Swansea were playing well.

“And he led the line well. He put himself about, messed the defenders about and that`s what we expect of Benty – and I expect more as well. He`s getting better with every game, but there`s more to come from him.”
