Nicklas Bendtner has been for scans on his damaged ankle and the news is good from the clubs perspective.

The player was stretchered from the pitch during our match against Newcastle and it was feared that he may have broken his ankle after falling awkwardly on the pitch.

However, after a series of Xrays and MRI scans over the weekend it has been revealed that he has just sprained his ankle and will only be out for 3-4 weeks rather than months.

The club are still likely to try and add another striker despite this piece of good news after Steve Bruce said he would appeal to the board for extra funds and Sullivan responded saying they would make more money available to provide cover.

There have been plenty of links, from Stern John down to Vine most recently. The rumours will no doubt pick up over the next day or two following the confirmation that a striker will be signed.
