Bendtner Calls For Action

Nicklas Bendtner has called for action, both in front of goal and also to be taken against Gary Breen.

After being held to a 1-1 draw against Wolves following their late equiliser, Bendtner has called upon the Blues squad to finish teams off and secure results to stave off these last minute hiccups.

He has also called for Gary Breen to be banned over the ‘elbow incident’ on Seb Larsson in the lead up to their goal.

Speaking to the press, the self proclaimed Arsenal loan star said:

‘Of course it’s always disappointing when you miss the chances we did.

‘I think had we had a bit more coolness in situations, when we had a couple of free shots in front of the goalkeeper, we would have won comfortably.

‘That’s how it can be though. Sometimes you choose the wrong options and that’s what makes us talk about a 1-1 draw instead of a win.

‘We are becoming a better team, but we just need to win games more convincingly when we are in the position to do so.

‘I think we can do that. We have to pick the right option in front of goal and be a bit more composed in the last third.

‘Composure is important because sometimes we shot when we should have passed. The last ball was wrong because there were occasions when other people would have been through on goal.

‘I know myself I had two occasions when, if I had been played in, I would have been all alone in front of goal.

‘This was a wake-up call for us that we can’t ease up in games and that we have to keep taking our chances.

‘We need to keep sharp all the time if we’re going to get promoted and we can’t concede late goals like that from a corner. It was a rubbish goal to concede and we must never switch off, even if there’s only a couple of minutes left.

‘I didn’t see the incident. But I heard that he (Breen) kneed him in the stomach and gave him an elbow in the back of the head.

‘I can’t say anything about it really but, if that was the case, then he should get banned.

‘The game should have stopped. If someone gets something to the head, then that’s the rule.

‘I will be staying here until the end of the season, which I am happy about,’ said Bendtner.

‘My contract at Arsenal has two more years left on it, so I am not really thinking about staying at Birmingham after this season. The plan at the moment is to go back to Arsenal and the only chance of me staying on here is if the club get promoted to the Premiership.

‘I want to play in the Premiership because I always aim high all the time. Championship football is OK but I want more. Playing first-team football has been good for me, but even before I moved to Birmingham I knew that I could play at this level.

‘There are many good strikers at Arsenal, but I am confident I can break into that team one day. I believe in myself and I’m sure if I get my chance, then I’ll take it.’
