Birmingham City have been told that Hatem Ben Arfa is unwilling to play at their level, in the Championship.
Stories began to develop a couple of days ago that Birmingham were lining up a shock loan deal for Newcastle winger Ben Arfa. The Birmingham Mail then got Clark onto the subject of the deal and he, at that time did not rule anything out.
Ben Arfa is available due to several dressing room bust ups with Alan Pardew. Given Birmingham’s position in the Championship and the fact they are in the second division has proved a stumbling block in this deal.
It doesn’t appear as if the player is going to go anywhere this transfer deadline day as his staff seem to say he is happy to stay at Newcastle and fight for his player. Pardew doesn’t seem to be giving him a chance any time soon, though.
This transfer attempt does suggest that Lee Clark is in the market for a player or two following Blues 4-0 battering at Wigan. Injuries are also starting to come in for Blues and it may be necessary to secure another signing.
Birmingham are now heading into an international break, meaning two weeks of training ahead of the Leeds game. An ideal time for a new player to come in and settle.
