Bellingham must start for the sake of the fans

|

Two weeks break should have given Pep Clotet the time to galvanise our prized gem into a first-team start.

Jude Bellingham is not just ready for first-team action, but is the commodity needed to take away all the recent talk about Garry Monk and other issues concerning our backroom staff. Pep Clotet is on a sticky wicket at the moment with precious few believing he is ‘our man’ to turn us around.

He cannot win – simple as that.

However, he has a major asset up his sleeve in Bellingham, and should Jude score goals and win games, then the scenario surrounding Clotet will change. Bold and adventurous is a must for the club with this player, without the continual whining about ‘easing him in’.

Bluenoses will instantly transfer all negativity surrounding ‘so called’ second rate players coming in by the busloads and the free agents etc. Pep Clotet comes across as a decent man with ambition but his position must be a concern due to the strict guidelines imposed by the hierarchy.

We all value our own worth and failure hurts, especially football managers/head coaches whose reputations often hang by a thread as to the next game. Clotet arrives at Charlton on Saturday on the back of a Stoke win courtesy of a Jude Bellingham winner.

This must be built upon and Bellingham should be the first name on the team sheet-anything less will show caution and weakness.

Fans do not want to hear the slow process of certain game introductions for ‘potential stars’ like what occurred with Redmond, Butland and to a certain extent Gray.

Everything will change very rapidly for Blues should Clotet make Bellingham into an immediate success and fans will believe our head coach is the right man.

Charlton away beckons for Bellingham but first Pep Clotet must be bold and realise we supporters are crying out for our club to make the news in a new positive way instead of the usual ‘damning decisions’ that lead to despair.
