Bellingham Development Sweet & Sour For Birmingham Supporters

|

Whilst every true Birmingham City supporter delights in the news that Jude Bellingham has been called up for the England squad – a tinge of sadness also emerges.

Over the years our club has produced some wonderful players who have gone on to greener pastures and quite rightly so. Whether it be Bellingham, Natham Redmond, Demarai Gray or Che Adams – and not forgetting Jack Butland – it is an overriding pity that none could have stayed at St.Andrews.

However, to have remained and bettered themselves, taking Blues to a different level was never on the cards. Vision, and of course, investment, was never considered resulting in the best talents leaving and mediocrity taking the norm.

Most clubs outside the Premier League, are of course, selling clubs and we get that, but to be an established Premier outlet, which Birmingham City should be, would certainly change the whole picture.

Leeds are now a force along with Wolves, and I am sure Derby County will be in the elite next season, leaving the sleeping giant of the name Birmingham still slumbering.

My point is that somewhere along the line the very name of the second city will be recognised and investments made. Firstly the club has to be an attractive purchase and the obvious potential realised. No doubt should our current owners get such an offer from a wealthy consortium then they would sell but it may take our club being in a hopeless financial position for this to happen.

We can all look back and say ‘what if’ referring to lost talents such as Bellingham and Adams etc, but this remains stark reality as we cannot move forward in serious mode until this happens.

We blame nobody because we still have a club whoever owns us, but we continue to hope that some mega-rich outfit looks our way, and like Derby who have just hit the jackpot.

In the meantime, we rejoice in Bellingham’s career jump and hope one day we just keep our jewels for a great deal longer.

Guys, the bottom line is that we wish for the day when we do not have to continually see our crown jewell’s but until we get the current owners to sell up then this will continue to be the norm. Its really that simple!

Sweet and Sour most definitely. Within two months of leaving BCFC he is playing for the England first team. How frustrating is that!
