West Brom have begun talks which could lead to Blues goalkeeper Ben Foster signing for them on a permanent deal.

The club`s sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth has revealed that talks have started and the Baggies are keen to land the former England international after he spent the last season on loan at the Hawthorns.

The deal is not yet cut and dry though as it is believed that Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers would also like the player on their books.

Ashworth told the Express and Star: ‘We’ve started discussions with Birmingham City and we hope we can find a solution that suits them and suits us.

‘If we can’t, then no problem we’ll have to move on, but it’s down to discussions with them.

‘As with every transfer, the selling club has ‘X’ in mind and the buying club only value at ‘Y’ so you hope that you find a tipping point that suits both parties. If you don’t then the transfer doesn’t happen.’
