Birmingham have said that they will fight tooth and nail to keep manager Chris Hughton at the club this summer.
Hughton is being linked with the West Brom manager`s job, he has become the favourite to take over from Roy Hodgson who went on to take charge of the national side.
But the Baggies have been warned to expect a tough fight from Birmingham after he has impressed in his first year in charge, narrowly missing out on the play-offs despite having his hands tied financially.
Hughton was a free agent after being sacked by Newcastle last summer and was interviewed for the West Brom job before being overlooked for Hodgson.
A source close to Blues said: ‘Chris is very highly rated at Birmingham and has done a great job since taking over.
‘Blues are planning for next season, want Chris to be part of those plans, and any approach would not be welcome.’
