Are Birmingham Missing A Trick By Not Pursuing Talented Liverpool Starlet?

|

Harry Wilson had an excellent second half of last season at Hull City. On loan from Liverpool, the 21-year-old scored seven goals and provided four assists in his 14 matches for the Tigers.

The Welsh international’s performances were highly impressive, and it’s no surprise that a whole host of teams are keen on signing the Welsh international on loan next season.

12 Championship clubs, including Villa, West Brom, Stoke City, Leeds, Preston, Derby, Stoke, Reading, Middlesbrough, Norwich, QPR and Swansea are all looking to capture Wilson’s signature, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Celtic were also in the race but Liverpool have effectively ruled out a move to the Scottish club due to concerns of a lack of game time. You may notice that we are not among the list of interested clubs, which is a bit frustrating, to be honest with you.

We do have Jacques Maghoma and Jota to supply goals and assists from the wings but Wilson would offer even more creativity and a greater goal threat. I do understand Garry Monk’s reluctance to bring in loan players, but this could be an exceptional case.

There’s no doubting one of our major problems was our lack of goals last season (just 38 in the league). Additional firepower such as the Liverpool starlet would help us hugely to address that issue.

Should Wilson be a target for Monk? Let me know in the poll.
