Over 500 hard Bluenoses will travel to London on Tuesday night to see Birmingham face Millwall hoping rather than expecting three points in our current situation; however they can guarantee goals and plenty of them if past form is anything to go by.

I don`t know what it is about The Den but in recent years Birmingham and their counterparts Millwall seem to go goal crazy when they meet, having played out some thrillers in recent years.

Blues last seven games against the Lions have resulted in twenty seven goals being scored meaning the Birmingham vs Millwall fixture has averaged a staggering four goals a game.

Recent fixtures between the sides have included a 6-0 and 4-1 away win at the Den for the Blues and a 3-3 draw and Tuesday`s game has the potential to be another cracker.

Lee Clark`s men are on a stretch of eight games without a win having slipped down to 21st in the league after Saturday`s loss to Fulham and pressure is now really building on Clark`s position at the club.

With strikers Clayton Donaldson and Wes Thomas failing to score regularly and a back four that is lacking confidence stability is needed or it is feared Blues current slump will continue.

This seasons league stats also point to this game being very high scoring. With neither teams defences being exactly tight; Birmingham have conceded sixteen goals in just nine matches this campaign and against the experienced Millwall forward line of Ricardo Fuller and Scott McDonald, it will need to take a resolute defensive performance from the Blues to keep a clean sheet and come away with at least a point.

On Tuesday watch out for goals, thrills and spills at the Den as Blues will try and pick up only their second win of the season.

Ofcourse it will be difficult but at a usually happy hunting ground, Birmingham could easily snatch the three points and leave the time with some breathing space between themselves and the current bottom three.
