Blues’s latest recruit Nicolai Brock-Madsen has caused a large amount of excitement to surround the club. It looks as if Blues manager Gary Rowett has just about finished his work in the transfer window, albeit a centre back short in many fans opinions. Here we take a closer look at Blues’s newest signing and what he can offer our side.

Firstly, Nicolai Brock-Madsen is a 22 year old Danish Striker who on Friday signed from his hometown club Randers FC, the fee was undisclosed but believed to be around £0.5 million, a large sum considering our recent transfer woes of the past few years.

Brock-Madsen is a 6FT 3Inch striker with brilliant aerial abilities and for his height, Brock-Madsen possesses a fair amount of pace. An area that the young striker could improve on though is his goal scoring, and for a new striker coming into a club, if you don’t score goals, the fans can tend to turn on you.

His goal scoring record isn’t too impressive with 19 goals in 119 appearances for his hometown club. Fortunately, his record on the international stage is reasonably impressive with consistent goals for his Denmark age groups, his U21 record is the most impressive of the lot with 9 goals in 16 appearances. And his form for the U21 side did earn Brock-Madsen a call up to the full international squad in 2012, although he is still yet to make an appearance.

Brock-Madsen obviously has a lot to learn before he makes the step up to the international stage, if his first year at Blues could be anything like his fellow Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner when he had a loan spell in 2007, Brock-Madsen could soon become a popular figure at St Andrews.

It looks as if Clayton Donaldson will continue to play as the number one striker but you do get the sense the Gary Rowett doesn’t have much confidence in Wes Thomas as a lone striker in Rowett’s favoured formation. Brock-Madsen’s height, strength and power could help him fill in as a like for like replacement for Clayton Donaldson if he ever gets inured.

All in all, I’m pleased with the signing of Nicolai Brock-Madsen, he has a huge amount of potential and although I don’t feel his record as a goalscorer will improve dramatically, I do feel at the age of 22 he still has plenty of room to grow as a player and become a key part of our team.

Do you feel Nicolai Brock-Madsen is a good addition to the Blues side?
