All About Karen Carney

With the women’s world cup getting under way, it’s only right to publish an article on the Blues international; Karen Carney.

As a Brummie, she has always had the passion needed to succeed at Birmingham City as she knows what the club is about and what it means to represent such a loyal fan base.

She joined the club at 11 years of age and soon made her debut at a mere 14. This is unrivalled in the mens game and yet she did brilliantly on that occassion. It was also in the Premier League against Fulham who were no minnows at the time.

At just 17, she made her full international debut and this was met with very high hopes from the staff at the club. She did not disappoint.

Karen has the ability to drive at defences unlike any other woman footballer I have seen. She has pace despite her broad frame and her determination is second to none.

Karen secured a move to Arsenal a few years ago, but soon came back to the Blues, knowing that this was the place she felt at home. She helped Birmingham to win the FA Cup in 2012; an achievement that will surely go down as one of the best performances by Birmingham City Ladies.

Recently, she sealed 3 points for England in their second group game of the 2015 World Cup with a bullet header after coming on as a substitute.
