After Eight

Blues fans have nightmares about the last time Bournemouth visited St. Andrew`s. An 8-0 drubbing in what was an absolute horror show with the Tilton Road turning on their team – as rare as an 8-0 scoreline.

But that result sparked drastic change in B9. Just days after, Gary Rowett was appointed as Lee Clark`s successor and the rest is history.

That day (25 October 2014 to be precise) was a shambles. In the days leading up ti the match, Malcolm Crosby (then caretaker manager) was talking up his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis. Then?bang. An absolute drubbing.

Stephen Gleeson has told the Birmingham Mail that he can ‘guarantee` it will not happen again. After all, this Blues side is made of sterner stuff.

Bournemouth are a good side but will surely rest players while they concentrate on maintaining their Premier League status. Blues could have an opportunity to progress to the fourth round.

But as most Bluenoses will tell you, as long as the game isn`t as farcical and downright embarrassing as it was 439 days ago, we`ll be happy.
