Birmingham City have today learnt that they have failed in their attempts to bring Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah to the club.

According to Sky Sports, the deal is now completely off with the midfielder now away with the national squad.

The deal to bring Acquah to Blues would have seen the Championship club break their current transfer record with Harry Redknapp ready to shell out around ?8 million for him.

However, once again the 70-year-old has been left frustrated in his efforts to bring in another midfielder.

But Redknapp isn’t waiting around with former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Jason Lowe set to sign for the club.

A bid has also been placed for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan.

  • Another player that has eluded Harry who has been chasing after him for so long now.I thought this one might just go through however it appears a lost cause now I really did expect one big signing for us with this manager. He has surprised me with the route he has taken, several young loan players,it might work,if it does we could still shock the division,I want it to work of course,to see us challenging would be amazing,It’s time for us to watch, wait and hope. One more full day before transfer activity ceases, where will we finish?

  • Only yesterday the deal was reported as still on with a big asking price, considering the manager has targeted him so much in recent weeks let’s just wait and see if this story is correct or could there still be another twist in the tail? Redknapp says he still has money to spend, could this one be our bug announcement tomorrow?
