Highly-rated Charlton Athletic midfielder Jordan Cousins is the latest name to be linked with a move to Birmingham City according to the News Shopper.

On their official website (link can be found at the bottom of the page), they claim to understand that Gary Rowett’s side have now joined Sky Bet Championship rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the race for the 22-year-old’s signature.

The Addicks were relegated from the Championship last season and whilst they continue to strengthen their squad, a recent signing of theirs being former Blues striker Lee Novak, they still look increasingly likely to lose some of their star players.

Last season, Cousins made 42 appearances in all competitions for Charlton as they were going through turmoil off the field with their owner situation, scoring two goals.

The former England under 20 star was also part of the side that completed the double over the Blues last season, but it now looks like he is set for pastures new.

Cousins was named Charlton’s Player of the Season in May which speaks wonders for him and after signing a new four-year contract in July 2015, any side who wanted to sign him would have to pay a small fee for his services.
