A deal to bring Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah to Birmingham City looks to be fading away, according to reports in the Italian media.

They say that injury problems for the Serie A club mean that they have no choice but to keep the midfielder.

The 25-year-old was all set to move to St. Andrew’s in a club record ?9m move.

There could still be light at the end of the tunnel for Blues but that could well depend on whether Torino sign a replacement for Acquah – a deal to bring Godred Donsah is still up in the air.

  • Why doesn’t this surprise us,every target we go in for on a permanent basis seems to elude us at the final hurdle, again reading this report on the impressive Afriyie Acquah we look set to be disappointed. Harry has had some serious bad luck,I hope this deal does progress however time is against us.Maybe something will happen, sure hope so.
So who is likely to join us now,Downing maybe however that has been going on and on and the season is well underway.Ravel Morrisson, that one might be a last day signing, can’t understand why the manager is so unwilling to pay his wages which aren’t excessive, probably hoping his parent club will loan him out for free just to get him away from their club.
I still believe there will be one big announcement, probably an unexpected one before the month is out.

  • Le Hane. Can feel your frustration. My whole feeling to what is happening at the club has changed to that of the pre season and up to now. We are signing players on loan which is just up our street.Gallagher apart, the rest are ordinary which I feel doesn’t improve of what we already have.Vassell looks ok at £1m. so it may improve our attacking options-but only just. Adams is no 15 goal striker, neither is Donaldson,Jukey or Maghoma. My hopes which sadly have diminished from attacking a top six to finishing above bottom three. No fault of Harry for initially wanting to have a right good go this season-but football is a changing facet in this division and the so called lesser teams such as Burton,Ipswich and Bolton are no better or worse than us. Harry has been surprised by all this due to him being out of the cycle for a few seasons.Sadly that tells it all.
