The international break may have brought the Championship to a grinding halt, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening in the second-tier of English football.
To the contrary, it’s proving to be perhaps the busiest international break in recent memory, especially for fans unfortunate enough to be Aston Villa supporters.
The Villains decided to sack Steve Bruce earlier this month after a run of bad results, and after days of speculation, he was finally replaced on Wednesday evening. Brentford boss Dean Smith was the man chosen, with John Terry set to be his assistant.
It’s certainly a bold appointment, and it will certainly be interesting to see how well or, indeed, how poorly they do.
Unsurprisingly, it’s a move that has got a lot of Blues talking online, and it’s fair to say that they aren’t too impressed. Indeed, many of the Birmingham City faithful aren’t expecting much from the appointment, and they’re expecting their rivals to struggle.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
Dean Smith and the Vile deserve each other! @Nick_Settle #KRO #SOTV

We already out played a Dean Smith’s team this season so we do it again #bcfc #kro

So now Dean Smith is the Villa manager I guess we can expect at least 3 #BCFC players sent off in the derby. Let's face it if he condones Maupay's antics, he will probably encourage grealish to go to ground every time one of our players brushes past him.

Pleased to see that Dean Smith and John Terry have joined Villa. Put your money on them for a full throttle tilt at the League One Play-Offs next season. #avfc #sotv #kro
