Nikola Zigic is considering a shock return to Birmingham after new manager Gary Rowett extended an invitation to return to training with the Midlands team.

The Serbian forward left the club after rejecting the offer of a new contract in the summer. But, he has since been unable to find a new club in his preferred location – England.

After being without a club for several months it is now understood that Zigic is willing to return to the club, whilst being aware that his wages will have to come down.

Blues do have room in the budget to bring in more players, should Rowett decide that he likes what he sees now Zigic is back at Birmingham. This does not change the fact that Blues are still exploring the possibility of some bodies leaving in the near future.

Zigic is considered a hero by the majority of Birmingham supporters. Many of the fans we spoke to today still feel the Carling Cup winner has plenty to offer to the side and can still worry defenders at this level.

Gary Rowett will now decide if he would like to keep Zigic at the club and get him involved on match days, should the Serb finally agree to a lower wage.

The initial signs look promising for those who want a Zigic return.
