Birmingham City`s head of media and communications revealed last week that he had a meeting with app developers Tribe Hive about a new feature for Birmingham City fans. The app is set to give fans new access to the clubs game statistics and live goal updates.

The interactive smart phone app was presented to clubs at Football League headquarters and Andy Walker tweeted describing the meeting as ‘fruitful`.

Birmingham currently do not offer a smartphone platform despite the large medium it provides for reaching out to fans as the club has seen on its Twitter and Facebook pages. The move will see Twitter feeds, live score updates and match statistics all moved into one app for the supporters.

The app will use its HiveCore technology to connect all of the supports phones together in one network that the club can then manage and interact with. This could mean that whilst in the ground you will see all of the tweets around you without having to do anything or follow those people.

The app also will boost your connectivity by using the network and other people`s connectivity around you, so the more people that interact the stronger the network. I have had signal problems in the past at St Andrews so this sounds fantastic to me.

The company are also looking into issues with video distribution, however they do seem to be finding solutions and fans will be able to watch highlights of the match at half time and even replays on their devices.

Don’t forget that we also have an app for your devices, just go onto your app store and search ‘Vital’ and set your feed to Vital Birmingham.

Vital Birmingham does not claim to own this video or the rights to it.
