It’s been a very hectic day at Birmingham City with two Pre Season matches involving Gary Rowett and Richard Beale’s squads whilst the big breaking news of the day has increased all fans levels of optimism for the season and the next three years. All things at St Andrews will be made to look even brighter with yet another stunning royal Blue kit.

Firstly, the big breaking news of the day has to be the capture of one of the biggest young stars in English football. Of course that is Demarai Gray, who has penned a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2018. The contract extension of Gray surely signals great intent from him and Gary Rowett, they really do believe we can make it back to where Gray dreams to play and that of course, the Premier league.

The new home kit was also shown off for the first time today, a stunning royal Blue shirt with a white diagonal strip running through and beautifully modelled by three of last years starlets in Michael Morrison; Clayton Donaldson and Jonathan Grounds. For me, it’s one of my favourite kits we have ever brought out, especially with the brand new badge which will represent the club in its 140th year.

On the footballing front, the Blues U21 side picked up a first win of the season with a dominating display against Premier League side Leicester City. Denny Johnstone bagged a brace in what was a very impressive display by the 20 year old Scot along with likes of Charlie Cooper and goalkeeper Nick Townsend.

And last but by no means least, Gary Rowett’s Blues side kicked off their Pre Season with a comprehensive win against non league side Nuneaton Town. It was a very encouraging performance from Blues with young Defender Wes Harding making his first team debut. Lee Novak; Andrew Shinnie and David Davis were the goal scorers in what was a very decent 3-0 win.

First Half XI:
Kuszczak; Caddis, Spector, Harding, Grounds; Gleeson, Brown; Arthur, Novak, Gray; Thomas

Second Half XI:
Legzdins; Eardley, Morrison, Robinson, Hancox; Davis, grifiths; Cotterill, Shinnie, Maghoma; Donaldson

What was your take on today’s performance?
Are you keen on the new kit?
And what do you make of the capture of Dimi Gray on a longer contract?
