10 game mark – BCFC analysis

It is fair to say Birmingham City fans, after we picked up yet another point at home on Tuesday night, we should be very happy with how we have started the Championship campaign.

With just one loss in the league in the opening 10 games, manager Gary Rowett seems to be very happy, borderline thrilled, with how his side have started and it is a feeling that is or should be emulated by the fans as well.

As Newcastle United turned things round in dramatic style last night beating Norwich City 4-3, despite being 3-2 down with just two minutes left to play, Blues have now slipped down to seventh, but fear not, we are still very much in the mix and we are only out of the play-off spots on goal difference which is something that will improve over the season, trust me.

Despite losing to local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers just before the last international break, Blues have started to hit form and it is fair to say they have certainly done that.

Like Rowett has said recently, Blues have found ways to pick up points where they would have just rolled over and given up last season and for me, that is something we should all be pondering because we could get a result from anywhere with the options that we now have.

Take a look at the Fulham game for example, we were all over them and we pressed very very high up the pitch, something which we don’t always see and we get three deserved points.

Then we go to Reading on a Tuesday night and we dig in deep to pick up a point in a game which was very sloppy, and the same goes for Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End.

Blues have found ways to dig in and pick up points and because of that, I think a play-off spot is well within reach this season and if fans say they don’t want us to get there, then I don’t really know what to say.

16 points after 10 games is something that I am pleased about and if we can continue this sort of form, I have no doubts that we will be very much in the mix come the 40 game mark and we will show just what team spirit gets you in this league.
